Avalon at the Building Michigan Communities Conference

By: Avalon Housing

At this year’s Building Michigan Communities Conference in Lansing, Aubrey Patiño, Executive Director of Avalon, conducted a Harm Reduction session with Amanda Carlisle of the Washtenaw Housing Alliance, TaLasha Moore of Avalon Housing, Lemont Gore of Unified HIV Health and Beyond and Lindsey Bishop Gilmore of CSH.

Also at the conference, Avalon’s Wendy Carty-Saxon presented the FHLBank Community Spirit Award to Jim Wolfington, Vice President of Chelsea State Bank.  Jim has worked with Avalon for several years to secure funding for affordable housing projects.  He’s also engaged other lenders to get involved in affordable housing projects.

“Jim has been key to demystifying the financing process, making him an outstanding ambassador for community banks,” said Wendy Carty-Saxon, Director of Real Estate Development at Avalon Housing. “As a result of Jim’s efforts, there are nearly 120 units of new or preserved housing, occupied or in the pipeline.”
