There are many ways to give to Avalon
Charitable Giving Update 2020: The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress raises maximum charitable deductions for individuals and businesses for 2020.
- Individuals who take the standard deduction are now also eligible for a charitable deduction of up to $300 in cash gifts.
- Individuals who itemize on their taxes are now limited to 100% of their gross income (previously 60%); C corporations are now limited to 25 percent (previously 10%).
Please consult your tax advisor to determine if your gift is tax deductible under the new rules.
You can give directly to Avalon at any time. Your unrestricted donation to Avalon enables us to provide support services and programs to our residents all year long.

Gifts of Stock
By donating shares of stock to Avalon, you can receive a tax deduction of the full fair market value of your stock, in addition to a capital-gains tax exemption on shares that you’ve owned for at least one year. For more about information about making a stock donation, please contact Marcia Luke-van Dijk, Director of Communications and Fund Development.
Planned Giving – Jane Barney Legacy Society
A bequest, or planned gift, is a gift from your estate—a transfer of cash, securities, or other property – made through your estate plan. You can make a planned gift to Avalon Housing by including language in your will or living trust that leaves a portion of your estate to Avalon.
The Jane Barney Legacy Society honors those who provide support for Avalon through a planned gift. Through the Legacy Society, you join others who have taken a formal step to help ensure that Avalon’s work is sustained in the future.
For more information about planned gifts, or to notify us of your bequest intention, please contact Marcia Luke-van Dijk, Director of Communications and Fund Development.
You can celebrate your loved ones by making a gift to Avalon in their honor. Whether you donate online or send us a check, you can designate your gift with the name of your honoree. At your request, Avalon will communicate your honorarium to your honoree by letter. For more information about memorial gifts, please contact Marcia Luke-van Dijk, Director of Communications and Fund Development.
Avalon has periodic needs for new items and gently used items, such as furniture.
